A fifteen-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from I.W. Harper, bottled at 43% ABV. The mash bill is reported to be about 86% corn, 6% rye and 8% malted barley, and the whiskey spends its fifteen years in new American white oak barrels.
The nose is dried apricot and raisin with vanilla bean, honeyed corn and light oak, and citrus peel and a little leather appear with time. The palate is soft, moving from caramel and vanilla cream to dark chocolate, cherry compote and toasted oak, with ginger or cinnamon behind. The finish is medium to long, with soft oak tannins, caramel-vanilla warmth and a faint trace of leather or tobacco leaf.
