Ichiro's Malt Wine Wood Reserve is a Japanese blended malt that brings together whiskies from Chichibu and Hanyu with Scotch malt. It first matured in red wine casks. It was then refined in Ovum barriques, made from French oak by Taransaud and kept in the Chichibu warehouse, where sharp swings in temperature encourage intense maturation. The red wine casks are associated with balanced tannins, a touch of acidity and a dry, fruity flavour that lingers on the palate.
