This Imperial was distilled on 16 July 1979 and bottled on 12 January 2023, after 43 years in a single hogshead. It comes from the Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection and forms part of Recollection Series #2.
Imperial is a Speyside distillery that closed for good in 1998. This single cask, number 5317, was bottled at 48.7% ABV and yielded 133 bottles.
The tasting notes describe a nose of florals, ripe fruit, honey, vanilla and fine oak spice. On the palate come creamy fruit, caramel and nuts alongside spicy oak. The finish is long and balanced, with fruit, spices and dry oak.
