This is a single-cask Benrinnes from the ImpEx Collection, a Speyside single malt distilled on 7 March 2006. It matured for 16 years in a hogshead, cask 800218, and was bottled on 6 March 2023 at cask strength in a 75cl bottle. The outturn was 264 bottles.
Long maturation in a single hogshead brings out a fruit-led side of Benrinnes.
The tasting notes describe strawberry syrup, a crack of black pepper and a spoonful of marmalade on the nose. The palate is sweet and fruity, with layers of spice, juicy mandarin segments and strawberry richness. The finish moves from citrus to soft spice.
