This is a 13 year old Inchgower, distilled in 2007 and bottled by the SMWS as cask 18.39, named Vamos A La Playa. Only 245 bottles were filled, at 57% ABV.
The whisky spent its first eleven years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, then moved into a first fill Spanish oak Oloroso hogshead. Inchgower is a coastal Speyside malt, whose spicy new make is perceived on the tongue as salinity.
The nose is described as old-style, with sweet hay, barnyard and dry wood alongside candied rose petals and salted caramel.
