A 28-year-old single malt from Inchgower, the Speyside distillery, from the 1997 vintage. It was matured in a single hogshead and bottled at 56.6% in a 70cl bottle.
Inchgower's style is marked by salinity, grassy florals and nutty sweetness, and the long time in wood has kept that character intact, with a waxen elegance. Inchgower is seldom bottled as a stand-alone single malt.
The nose is sweetly nutty, with nougat, cinnamon, cola, soft florals, cut grass and gingerbread. The palate brings baking spices, chilli and ginger, with liquorice, strawberry, raspberry, milk chocolate cookies and star anise. The finish is medium to long, with red fruits and sweet spices over toasted oak.
