This is a 12-year-old single malt from Inchmurrin, bottled by Tri Carragh at 59.9% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was distilled at Loch Lomond in January 2014.
It then spent nine months finishing in a second-fill red wine octave, a small cask that adds a concentrated flavour.
The nose opens with blackberries, blackcurrants and raspberry coulis, followed by lemon zest, candied orange peel, pear drops and tropical fruit. The palate is rich and mouth-coating, with milk chocolate, caramel, forest fruits and blackberry jam, plus ginger, cinnamon and soft oak. The finish is warming, with spice, dark berries and chocolate-covered fruit.
