Insolito Añejo is a 100% Blue Weber agave tequila in a 75cl bottle, at 40% ABV, made at Premium de Jalisco in Mazamitla, Jalisco.
The distillery sits at 7,200 feet in the Sierra del Tigre mountains. Production uses steam ovens, a roller mill, closed-tank fermentation and pot stills. The tequila rests for 20 to 24 months in new virgin American oak barrels with a 2.5 char.
Cooked agave, caramel, toasted oak and vanilla show on the nose. The palate brings chocolate, prunes, butterscotch, toasted nuts, cinnamon and nutmeg over a firm agave core, and the finish is long and warming with sweet oak and spice.
