A single cask Inverleven from Gordon & MacPhail's Connoisseurs Choice range, part of The Recollection Series #2. Inverleven was a Lowland distillery that has since closed. Distilled in 1985, the whisky matured for 38 years in refill bourbon barrel 563 and was bottled on 17 February 2023 at a cask strength of 57.9%, without chill-filtration or colouring. The barrel gave 82 bottles.
Vanilla pods open the nose, moving to crisp apple and citrus peel, then honeydew melon, candied violets and ripe oak. On the palate, lively bitter orange gives way to delicate honeycomb and tart grapefruit, alongside poached pear, guava and black pepper. Tropical fruit lingers into a long, spicy finish.
