This is a 1989 Inverleven single malt from the Lowlands of Scotland, bottled by Gordon & MacPhail. The whisky has a full gold colour.
The nose shows sherry, fresh walnuts, vanilla and cocoa, with a good deal of oak, a touch of ale and apple skins. With water it turns meaty and farmy, bringing well-hung game, fruit, an old wine cellar, balsamic and sake.
On the palate it is very nutty, with coffee, liquorice and caramel, and water brings out more toffee, coffee and liquorice. The finish is long, salty and vanilla-led, with a grassier edge.
