Inverleven 38 Year Old 1985/2023 - Gordon & MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice - Refill Bourbon Barrel

A 38-year-old single malt from Inverleven, a Lowlands distillery that closed long ago. It was bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice range, as part of Recollection Series #2. The whisky was distilled in 1985 and matured in a refill bourbon barrel, cask 563, until it was bottled in February 2023. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose is described as delicate vanilla with garden apples and ripe honeydew melon. On the palate come juicy orange and creamy honey, with ripe guava behind. The long finish is fruity, with pineapple and mango and a light, layered spice.
