Isle of Raasay Na Sia Single Cask Series Bordeaux Red Wine Cask Peated

This is a peated single malt from Isle of Raasay Distillery, which stands on the Hebridean island of Raasay between Skye and the Scottish mainland and opened in 2017. It belongs to the Na Sia Single Cask Series, named after the Gaelic word for six, a nod to the six cask types in the distillery's core range. The whisky was matured and finished in a single Bordeaux red wine cask, pairing island peat smoke with the influence of French oak and red wine. The nose has coastal peat smoke, dark red fruits, blackcurrant and a hint of damp earth. The palate is bold and layered, with smoked meats, ripe plum, dark cherry, clove and oak spice. The finish is long, with peat, dried fruit and a touch of sea salt.
