Isle of Raasay – Single Cask Series Unpeated Ex-Bordeaux Red Wine Cask (70cl, 61.9%)

This is a single cask Scotch single malt from Isle of Raasay, in a 700ml bottle at a natural cask strength of 61.9% ABV. It is unpeated and was matured in ex-Bordeaux red wine casks from châteaux in South West France, one of the six casks that make up Raasay's Na Sia recipe. The casks arrive fresh on the island, and the spirit takes on a pink hue early in maturation that deepens to a darker red. Each cask gives around 250 bottles, and the whisky is non-chill filtered with natural colour. The nose is dried fruits, sultana and grape with deep red-wine richness. On the palate come Christmas cake, bread pudding and dark berry fruit, and the long finish has red wine tannin and dark spice.
