This is a single malt from the Isle of Raasay distillery, the first legal distillery on the Hebridean island. The R-01.1 release is bottled at 46.4% in a 70cl bottle.
It combines unpeated and peated spirit matured in first-fill rye whiskey casks, virgin Chinkapin oak and first-fill Bordeaux red wine casks. The result is lightly peated, with aromatic smoke, cherry, apricot and blackcurrant, black pepper, cinnamon and crystallised ginger, then sandalwood, vanilla and butterscotch, and a hint of saltiness.
