J&B Rare Blended Scotch Whisky (70cl, 40%)

J&B Rare is a blended Scotch whisky in a 70cl bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. It was created in the 1930s by the London wine merchant Justerini & Brooks, with a lighter, more approachable style in mind for the American market after Prohibition. The blend draws on 42 malt and grain whiskies, with Speyside malts such as Knockando and Auchroisk at its core. It is matured in American oak casks. The nose is fresh, with green apple, pear and cut grass, a little malt sugar and a trace of smoke. The palate is light and smooth, with vanilla, soft caramel and citrus. The finish is short to medium, clean and lightly spiced with oak.
