J.H. Cutter Whisky (75cl, 48%)

J.H. Cutter Whisky is a blend of American whiskies from Hotaling & Co. of San Francisco, bottled at 48% in a 75cl bottle. It combines 73% Kentucky bourbon with 17% Old Potrero 18th Century Style rye and 10% Old Potrero Port Finish rye, both distilled by Hotaling. The name goes back to 1866, when A.P. Hotaling became the exclusive West Coast agent for J.H. Cutter. The brand was revived in 2018, keeping the old "whisky" spelling and an amber bottle modelled on the original. The nose is sweet and spiced, with pear opening into brown sugar and caramel. The palate is creamy over a distinct rye backbone, with soft stone fruit in the middle.
