Rieger's 7 Year Kansas City Whiskey is an American whiskey bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is a blend of straight bourbon, light corn whiskey and straight rye whiskey, with up to 2.5% by volume of 15-year-old Oloroso sherry from Jerez.
J. Rieger & Co. was founded in Kansas City in 1887 and revived in 2014, bringing back the pre-Prohibition habit of adding aged sherry to American whiskey.
The nose offers caramel, toffee and maple syrup, with dried fruit and toasted grain. The palate shows sherried candied fruit, sweet corn and rye spice with dark chocolate. The medium-long finish is dry, with toasted grain and warm rye spice.
