J. W. Dant Special Reserve is a Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled in 2012 at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Joseph Washington Dant was a Kentucky distiller in the 1830s, known for making whisky with a log still. It was an old method from the days when settlers could not afford a copper still. A section of tree trunk was hollowed out with a copper pipe running through it, filled with fermented mash, and steam was fed through the pipe to start distillation.
