J.W.Kelly Golden Age is a straight rye whiskey from Chattanooga, Tennessee, bottled at 47% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It revives a name from 1866, when James Watt Kelly founded J.W. Kelly & Co. and its Deep Spring Distillery in the city.
The mash is 65% rye, 20% malted barley and 15% malted rye, and the whiskey was matured in oak barrels for a minimum of two years.
The brand owner describes a nose of sweet orchard fruit with classic rye spice. The palate is soft and creamy, lightly sweet at first and turning to crusty bread, and the finish is white pepper.
