A bottled-in-bond Tennessee rye whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, aged for seven years and bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It replaces the distillery's earlier 90-proof Straight Tennessee Rye. The mashbill is 70% rye, 18% corn and 12% malted barley, and the spirit was distilled in spring 2016.
Its charcoal filtering is modified: the spirit passes through three feet of sugar maple charcoal, against ten feet for the distillery's Tennessee Whiskey.
Cinnamon, clove, maple sugar candy and banana custard mark the nose. The palate brings black peppercorn, mint, molasses, toffee and dried fruit, and the long finish carries black pepper, charred oak and praline.
