Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, bottled at 40% ABV in a 37.5cl bottle. It carries no age statement.
The mashbill is 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. After distilling, the spirit is filtered slowly through sugar maple charcoal, then matured in new charred American oak barrels. It won a gold medal for World's Best Whiskey at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
The nose offers ripe banana, vanilla cream, brown sugar and toasted oak. On the palate come banana bread, caramel, toffee and a little cherry, with maple, charcoal and light rye spice later. The finish is medium and drying, with oak, black pepper and brown sugar.
