Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a charcoal-mellowed Tennessee whiskey, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, from a mashbill of 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye.
The new spirit is filtered drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal, known as the Lincoln County Process, before it goes into new charred American oak barrels. It won the Gold Medal for World's Best Whiskey at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair.
The nose has light smoke, ripe banana and vanilla. The palate brings sweet corn, caramel, maple syrup and brown sugar, with toasted nuts. The finish is medium, with soft baking spice and light oak.
