Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Heritage Barrel is a Tennessee whiskey bottled at 50% ABV from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg. It is matured entirely in high-toast, low-char barrels rather than only finished in them.
The barrels are toasted for 24 minutes, double the usual 12, before being flash-charred, and the spirit goes into them at a low 100 proof. The mashbill is 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye, and the whiskey is mellowed through sugar maple charcoal before barrelling.
The nose is soft oak, vanilla, graham cracker and gingerbread. The palate is plush, with vanilla custard, toffee, caramel and light baking spice. The finish is long, with brown sugar and toasted oak.
