Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Select is a Tennessee whiskey bottled at 47% in a 750ml bottle, drawn from individually selected barrels at the distillery in Lynchburg. Only about one barrel in a hundred qualifies, and each comes from the uppermost floors of the barrelhouses.
The mashbill is 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. The spirit is filtered through sugar maple charcoal before it goes into new charred American white oak barrels.
The nose is caramel, vanilla, ripe banana and brown sugar. The palate has maple syrup, charred oak, orange peel and warm cinnamon. The finish is medium to long, with butterscotch, clove and a gentle charcoal dryness.
