Black & White is a blended Scotch whisky from the 1950s, in a 75cl bottle at 40% strength. The brand began with the London blender founded by James Buchanan and was first known as House of Commons, the official whisky there. Its nickname, taken from the black and white labelling, was later adopted as the brand name.
The black Scottish Terrier and white West Highland Terrier on the label were devised by Buchanan himself in the 1890s. After mergers involving Dewar's in 1915, Distillers Company and Guinness, the brand is now owned by Diageo.
