James Buchanan's De Luxe is a blended Scotch whisky from the 1950s, at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle.
The house was founded by James Buchanan, born in Ontario, Canada in 1849, who moved to Scotland to work for the blending agent Charles Mackinlay & Co. before setting up on his own in 1884. His first blend, made with W.P. Lowrie, was built around Dalwhinnie, Clynelish and Glendullan and aimed at the English palate.
It was later renamed after the House of Commons bar, and the Black & White name became the brand's official title in 1902.
