Old Pepper Bottled-in-Bond Rye is made by James E. Pepper, distilled and bottled at its distillery in Lexington, Kentucky. The mash is 100% rye, and the whisky is aged for a minimum of four years in new toasted and charred Kentucky oak barrels, then bottled at 100 proof (50%).
The label revives the 'Old Pepper' name used by Colonel James E. Pepper, with designs drawn from the 1880s onwards and a strip label showing the distilling season.
Tasting notes describe it as complex and balanced, with chocolate peppermint and wildflower honey.
