James Eadie's Trade Mark 'X' recreates the whisky Eadie registered as a trademark in 1877. This Full Proof Batch 2 is bottled at 100 Proof, 57.1% ABV, with extra sherry influence from first-fill and refill oloroso hogsheads.
The brand was revived by Eadie's great-great-grandson Rupert Patrick, who worked from original purchase ledgers and surviving bottles with Master Blender Norman Mathison, using distilleries named in the historic records.
The nose brings icing sugar, raisins, gentle peat smoke and hay, then dark chocolate, sultanas and marzipan. The palate is rich and full-bodied, with ripe plums, prunes, mint chocolate and roasted coffee beans. The finish is long and warming, with sweet syrup, gentle spice and stone fruit.
