Jefferson's Founder's Reserve 20 Year is a Kentucky straight bourbon created for America's 250th anniversary. Only 250 bottles were made, each numbered and hand-signed by Jefferson's founder, Trey Zoeller.
The bourbon was aged for 20 years in Kentucky, then finished in French Bordeaux wine casks, a nod to Thomas Jefferson's travels in France. It is bottled at cask strength, 94 proof (47%).
The nose is caramel, toffee, leather, black cherry and ripe stone fruit. The palate brings toffee, cherry, cinnamon, clove, mature oak, smoke and vanilla. The finish is long and sweet, with dark fruit, crème brûlée and leather.
