Jefferson's Marian McLain is a limited edition blend of straight bourbons, bottled at 51% ABV in a 75cl bottle. Co-founder Trey Zoeller created it as a tribute to his eighth-generation grandmother, who was arrested for bootlegging in 1799. Five bourbons are blended, one for each of her five children, at Kentucky Artisan Distillery.
The blend is 21% 14-year-old Tennessee straight bourbon, 40% 11-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon, 14% wheated double-barrel bourbon, 17% rum cask finished bourbon and 8% 8-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon.
Tasting notes mention cinnamon, honey and oaky char on the nose. The palate brings dried fruit, orange zest, milk chocolate and espresso, and the finish carries bold pepper.
