Jefferson's Marian McLain is a limited-edition bourbon blended from five different bourbons, one for each of the five children of Marian McLain. It is bottled for Jefferson's Bourbon Company of Crestwood, Kentucky, in a 750ml bottle.
McLain was the eighth-generation grandmother of founder Trey Zoeller. She was arrested in 1799 for producing and selling spirituous liquors to support her family after her husband died in the Revolutionary War. The 2023 launch was tied to the Marian McLain Entrepreneurial Fund, run with Barbara Corcoran.
The 2023 bottling has a nose of caramelised brown sugar, vanilla bean and toasted oak. The palate brings dark fruit, honeyed spice and baking spice, and the finish is long and warming, with caramel and charred oak.
