Jefferson's Ocean Aged At Sea Voyage 26 Double Barrel Rye Whiskey (75cl, 48%)

This is Voyage 26 of Jefferson's Ocean Aged At Sea series and the first rye in it; the earlier 25 voyages were all bourbon. It is a 48% ABV rye whiskey, sourced from Canada, non-chill filtered, in a 75cl bottle. The rye was first rested in #3 char barrels, then double-barrelled in a split of #3 char and toasted barrels. Maturation finished aboard a container ship that sailed from Savannah, Georgia through the Panama Canal, across the South Pacific to Australia and up through Singapore, Korea and Japan, with four equator crossings. Tasting notes describe a peppery rye backbone layered with caramel, vanilla and warm baking spice.
