Jefferson's Presidential Select 16 Year Old Twin Oak is a straight bourbon and the first batch of this expression, with 10,000 bottles produced. The whiskey spent 10 years in new charred American oak, then moved into fresh new charred oak barrels for a further six years. This sequential double-barrel maturation gives Twin Oak its name.
The nose offers caramel, vanilla, baking spice, toasted sugar and candy. On the palate are caramel, baking spices, buttery toffee and a hint of caramelised sugar. The finish is full and robust, smooth and coating, with a dry, sweet rather than peppery spice, warm without burning.
