Jefferson's Reserve Old Rum Cask Finish is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 45.1% ABV. It is matured in new American white oak, then moved into rum casks for a further finishing period of about 15 months.
Those casks previously held Gosling's Family Reserve rum in Bermuda, and the rum inside had itself been aged for 16 to 20 years.
The nose brings molasses, ripe banana, sourdough crust and warm vanilla. On the palate there is honeyed corn, toffee, dark chocolate, cinnamon and tropical fruit, with a treacle note running through the oak. The finish is medium to long and warm, with vanilla, toasted marshmallow and soft allspice.
