A limited edition bourbon from Jefferson's Reserve, made by blending three bourbons aged in new American oak and then finishing them in French oak casks that previously held Cabernet Sauvignon.
The casks come from the Chappellet vineyard on Pritchard Hill in St. Helena, Napa Valley. Master Distiller Trey Zoeller worked with Cyril Chappellet of the Chappellet Estate Winery on the project, and credits the finish with aromas of blackberry, black cherry, licorice and dark chocolate.
The colour is deep amber. The nose shows the acidity and soft tannins of wine, then leather, red stone fruit, cashew and pound cake. Dates and apricot sit under buttery pastry on the palate, with lemon zest, and the finish is long and dry.
