Jelinek Slivovitz 15 Year Old is an aged Czech plum brandy from Vizovice, matured in oak barrels. The Jelinek brothers were the first to let slivovitz rest in oak, in 1923, and the family now grows its own plums in orchards at Techlov.
The long time in barrel shapes the spirit strongly, moving it well away from fresh plum towards something deeper and more woody.
The nose is plum to prune-like, with pronounced wood and hints of caramel and chocolate. The palate is delicate, dry and warm, with plum jam and subtle cinnamon or coffee. The finish is long and warming, with a slight tightening at the end.
