Jim Beam 18 Year Old Distillers' Masterpiece is a bourbon finished in Cognac barrels. The first release dates from 1999, a collaboration between Booker Noe, grandson of Jim Beam, and Alain Royer of the Fussigny Cognac house.
The bourbon had an extra year or more of finishing in a Cognac barrel, which left a distinct brandy character on the palate.
It is described as a full-flavoured bourbon with orange, leather, vanilla, maple, nuts and honey, but without the heat of Booker's.
