Jim Beam Black Aged 7 Years is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 45% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It carries a seven-year age statement in place of the earlier Extra Aged label, and the strength has risen from 86 to 90 proof alongside a redesigned bottle.
The brand describes the seventh year in cask as the point where an easy smoothness meets caramel, vanilla and warm oak.
The nose shows brown sugar, rye spices, caramel, mild vanilla, orange citrus and cinnamon. The palate is fairly sweet at first, with simple syrup and light caramel, then a tang of orange, black tea and mild char.
