A seven-year-old Kentucky straight bourbon from James B. Beam Distilling Co., bottled at 45% ABV in a 1.75 litre bottle.
The mashbill is 77% corn, 13% rye and 10% malted barley. The distillery uses a yeast strain it has kept in continuous use since the end of Prohibition. Booker Noe introduced the practice of choosing barrels from different warehouse floors for this bourbon, to keep bottles consistent over the seven years of ageing.
The nose brings almond butter, roasted corn, brown sugar and cinnamon-vanilla, with orange marmalade and raisin bread beneath. The palate is smooth and rounded, with vanilla-chocolate and fudge. The finish is medium-long, with almond, tobacco and black pepper.
