Jim Beam Black Extra Aged is a Kentucky straight bourbon from James B. Beam Distilling Co., bottled at 43% in a 75cl bottle. It is matured for longer than standard Jim Beam.
The mashbill is 77% corn, 13% rye and 10% malted barley, and the whiskey ages in new American white oak barrels with a level-4 char. It won the Bourbon Trophy at the 2016 International Wine & Spirit Competition.
The nose has caramel, vanilla cream, toasted oak and roasted peanut, with dried apricot and cinnamon. The palate brings toffee, baked apple, gentle rye spice and white pepper, and the finish is long, with caramel, toasted oak, black pepper and a little liquorice.
