Jim Beam Bourbon is a Kentucky straight bourbon from the James B. Beam Distilling Co. in Clermont, bottled at 40% in a 1 litre bottle.
The mashbill is 77% corn, 13% rye and 10% malted barley, distilled in a column still and aged in new charred American oak barrels. The distillery uses its own jug yeast strain, maintained since the end of Prohibition.
The nose brings ripe banana, vanilla, honey-roasted nuts and light brown sugar. On the palate there are caramel, vanilla, red apple and apricot, with cinnamon and cracked pepper from the rye. The finish is medium in length, with vanilla, dried hay and a touch of orange peel.
