John Barr is a blended Scotch whisky bottled at 40% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is made by Whyte & Mackay from up to 40 whiskies drawn from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay, with some malts aged up to 15 years.
The blend is married and then matured further in sherry casks, under a third-generation master blender.
The nose combines rich malt, toasted oak, dried fruit and a little peat smoke. The palate is sweet and malty, with baked scones, caramel, apricot and gingerbread, then hazelnut, chocolate, black pepper and a hint of iodine. The finish is long, with maple sweetness, faint smoke and dried fruit.
