John Walker & Sons King George V Year Of The Rabbit is the 2023 Chinese Lunar New Year edition of the King George V blended Scotch, bottled at 43% ABV in a 750ml bottle. The King George V line commemorates the Royal Warrant granted to John Walker & Sons on 1 January 1934.
The blend draws on whiskies from distilleries operating during George V's reign, from 1910 to 1936, including casks from the silent Port Ellen distillery, which closed in 1983. The packaging is illustrated by Shanghai-based fashion designer Angel Chen, with rabbits among mountain peaks echoing the Keep Walking motto.
The nose shows sweet, smoky Port Ellen over orange, raisins, figs and cinnamon. The palate is spiced and full of dried fruit, with vanilla, dark chocolate, toffee and roast nuts, and a long, creamy finish.
