John Walker & Sons King George V Year of the Tiger is the 2022 Lunar New Year edition of a Johnnie Walker blend, bottled at 43% ABV. Its artwork is by the Chinese artist Shan Jiang and shows a tiger with golden wings, the mythical Bai Ze.
The blend marks the Royal Warrant granted to John Walker & Sons on 1 January 1934. It uses only whiskies distilled at distilleries operating during King George V's reign, including stocks from the closed Port Ellen distillery, which add a gentle smokiness. It comes in a flint-glass decanter with a numbered certificate of authenticity.
The nose is sweet and smoky with orange, figs and roasted nuts, dark chocolate runs through the palate, and the finish is long with coastal smoke.
