John Walker & Sons XR Aged 21 Years (75cl, 40%)

John Walker & Sons XR 21 is a blended Scotch whisky from the John Walker & Sons Collection, made as a tribute to Sir Alexander Walker II, who was knighted by King George V in 1920. XR stands for extra rare, and the bottle design draws on his handwritten blending notes. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml decanter-style flagon, and each bottle is individually numbered. Every whisky in the blend is at least 21 years old. Master Blender Jim Beveridge used a three-stage blending method, building on grain whisky from the silent Port Dundas Distillery, then adding American oak and ex-bourbon matured malts and selected 21 year old single malts. The nose is rich fruit and oak, sweet honey, tempered spices, citrus zest, ripe tropical fruit and caramel.
