Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare Port Ellen Second Edition is a blended Scotch whisky bottled at 43.8% (87.6 proof) in a 750ml bottle. It is built around stock from Port Ellen, the Islay distillery that closed in 1983. Master Blender Jim Beveridge assembled it from eight whiskies: Port Ellen alongside Caledonian, Carsebridge, Mortlach, Blair Athol, Craigellachie, Duchanne and Clynelish. The nose opens with coastal smoke and gentle maritime peat, then honey, toasted oak, dried apricot and sweet malt. The palate brings smoked vanilla, salted caramel, ripe stone fruit, dark chocolate and building spice. The finish is long, with coastal smoke, beeswax, warm oak spice and a note of sweetened peat.
