Legendary Eight is a blended Scotch whisky released in 2020 for Johnnie Walker's 200th anniversary. It is bottled at 43.8% ABV (87.6 proof) in a 750ml bottle.
Every whisky in the blend comes from one of the eight distilleries working when John Walker opened his grocery shop in Kilmarnock in 1820. Four have since closed: Brora, Cambus, Carsebridge and Port Dundas. The other four, Oban, Blair Athol, Lagavulin and Teaninich, are still active. Master Blender Jim Beveridge OBE selected the aged whiskies.
The nose offers pineapple, mango, orchard apple, brown sugar, orange oil and cinnamon over light coastal smoke. The palate is creamy, with dried tropical fruit, sultanas, caramel and toffee. The finish is long, with wood spice, malt and gentle smoke.
