Johnnie Walker Blue Label Year of the Pig is a blended Scotch whisky released for the 2019 Chinese Lunar New Year. The bottle carries artwork of fireworks, clouds, lanterns, red envelopes and a pig in blue and gold, symbols of good fortune and abundance.
Inside is the standard Blue Label blend, selected from fewer than one in ten thousand casks in Diageo's reserves. It is bottled at 40% (80 proof).
The nose brings honey, dried stone fruit, dark chocolate and sweet malt with soft coastal smoke. The palate is velvety, with orange peel, vanilla cream, dried figs and brown sugar. The finish is long and warming, with dark fruit, oak spice and a last trace of smoke.
