Johnnie Walker Red Label is a blended Scotch whisky with no age statement, bottled at 40% ABV in a 1 litre bottle. It draws on up to 35 whiskies from across Scotland.
The blend combines malts from Cardhu, Caol Ila and Teaninich with grain whisky from Cameronbridge. The Johnnie Walker name goes back to John Walker's grocery shop in Kilmarnock, opened in 1820.
The nose is fresh apple and citrus zest with moderate peat smoke, dried herbs and gentle spice. The palate has vanilla, toffee, honey and nutmeg, with red fruit and toasted oak. The finish is warming and fairly short, with smoke, cardamom and pepper.
