Johnnie Walker Red Label (175cl, 40%)

Johnnie Walker Red Label is a blended Scotch whisky in a 1.75-litre bottle, bottled at 40% ABV. It combines malts from Cardhu, Caol Ila and Teaninich with grain whisky from Cameronbridge. The blend sets lighter East Coast malts against smoky, peaty whiskies from the West Coast. The Red Label name was formally introduced in 1909, and the house traces back to the grocer John Walker, who blended whisky in Kilmarnock in the 1820s. The nose offers citrus zest, toasted oak and vanilla over a faint peat smoke. The palate is sweet and grainy, with honey, black pepper and cinnamon, and the finish is medium, with light smoke and buttered toast.
